About
Looking for a home is mostly about comparing possible lives.
Seuil is a property search portal designed for a region that straddles a border: Luxembourg, Esch, Thionville, Metz, Longwy. You come looking for a rent, but also a commute, a neighbourhood and sometimes flatmates.
Commute first
Tell us where you work: every listing shows an estimated commute time, and the map draws the area you can reach. For cross-border commuters, that's often the deciding factor.
Flatsharing, with your eyes open
Answer six questions about how you live. Seuil works out your compatibility with each current flatmate, shows where you agree, what to talk through, and the times the bathroom is likely to be taken.
Real accounts, real conversations
Create a tenant or landlord account: your favourites, email alerts and rental application file follow you across all your devices. Messages, applications and viewings go straight to the landlord, who replies from their own space. Published listings are checked before they go live.
Three languages, partner agencies
The site is available in French, German and English. Agencies can feed listings into Seuil (CSV, JSON or XML), which is read automatically several times a day.
A personal project, fully transparent
Seuil is designed and built by Pierre Marie Turpin, a WordPress developer, to show what he can build. The starter listings, their landlords and their flatmates are fictitious and flagged as such: conversations with them are simulated. The accounts you create, and listings from registered landlords, are real.
Under the hood, Seuil is a bespoke WordPress plugin: listings are a content type you can edit in the admin, a custom API handles accounts and messaging, and the public site is a lightweight app (no page builder, no jQuery) built to load fast, even on an average phone.
